October 2005: Fashion show in 大阪 (Osaka, Japan)

The International Symposium on Wearable Computers (aka ISWC2005) took place that year in 大阪 (Osaka). I attended the talks and could enjoy a fashion show dedicated to wearable computers. The majority of models were proposed by . The designs were more aesthetic than functional, but this is bound to change in the coming years. The organization of such a fashion show in 大阪 (Osaka) is quite natural because the famous specialist formerly belonged to , and is still nearby at .

The first prototype shown below is a vest by from , which conducts electricity to electronic components placed on it. The second prototype came from a Fraunhofer institute: a vest that contains an interactive interface. The third prototype is a dress that can emit light, presented by . The evening fashion show featured numerous luminous accessories and garments, which were not photographed due to the limited light-sensitivity of the camera.
